The best online poker sites are the ones with busy tables at your stakes, a fair rake, a tournament schedule you can actually play and cashouts that arrive without a fight. We rank poker rooms for Irish players on exactly those points, explain why 22BET is our top pick as one account for casino, live casino and sport, and list the checks any other site must pass before it gets your deposit.
Short answerOur top pick among the best online poker sites for Irish players is 22BET: one account for casino, live casino and sport, a wide choice of payment methods and +250% on your deposit. It is an offshore operator without a GRAI licence, and GRAI has so far licensed only betting firms. Before you deposit anywhere, compare traffic at your stakes, the rake, the tournament schedule and the withdrawal rules.

Best online poker sites in Ireland: the short answer
There is no single best poker site for every player, because a Friday-night tournament grinder in Cork and a beginner learning at micro-stakes cash tables in Galway need different things. What the best online poker sites share is easy to list: enough players at your stakes when you log on, a rake that does not eat your win rate, a tournament schedule with buy-ins you can afford, software that runs smoothly on your laptop and phone, and a cashier that pays out to an account in your own name.
On those points our top pick for Irish players is 22BET. Its strength is breadth: casino, live casino and sportsbook share one account, so you are not shuffling money between wallets when you switch from the tables to a bet on the weekend’s football; check its lobby for the poker formats open to your account. Card, e-wallet and crypto payments all go through the same cashier, and the welcome offer adds +250% on your deposit. Its player rating stands at 5.0 from 2,748 reviews.
We are clear about the limits as well. 22BET is an offshore operator without a GRAI licence. The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland began licensing remote betting operators on 1 July 2026, but applications for gaming licences open only throughout 2027 and 2028, so no online poker room can point to a GRAI gaming licence yet. That makes the practical checks on this page, from withdrawal rules to fair-play policies, worth more rather than less.
If you are new to the game itself, our poker online guide covers hand rankings, Hold’em rules and the difference between cash games and tournaments. This page is about choosing where to play. We explain how we rank poker rooms, what traffic, rake and rakeback mean for your bankroll in euro, how to judge tournaments, software and anonymous tables, how payments work for Irish players, and what every site on your shortlist has to prove. Use the same checks on any site you consider, including ours.
How we rank the best poker sites
Plenty of lists of top poker sites and the best poker websites rank rooms by the headline bonus. That is the wrong way round. A poker bonus is a one-off; the rake is paid in every pot you win for as long as you play, and the number of players at your stakes decides whether you find a game at all. So we rank from the cost and liquidity end and treat promotions as the tie-breaker they are.
Two criteria work as gates rather than scores. A room has to tell you who runs it and which licence it claims, in a form you can check. It also has to publish its cashout and verification rules before you deposit, not reveal them after a deep tournament run. Fail either and the room is out. The other criteria are weighted in words, not invented percentages: very high, high, medium. A poor result on traffic or rake is hard to make up anywhere else.
Timing matters too: check a room at the hours Irish players actually play, because even the best online poker rooms look different after dark. A lobby that looks busy at 3pm can be a handful of regulars by midnight, and a tournament guarantee means little if the event starts at a time you are asleep or at work. Any traffic note worth trusting says when the tables were counted and which stakes were looked at, because traffic is the one number that changes hour by hour.

Our #1 pick: 22BET as one account for casino, live tables and sport
22BET takes the top spot for a reason that matters to most recreational players in Ireland: you do not juggle separate wallets. Casino, live casino and sportsbook share one account, so a good night at the tables can go on a match the next afternoon or straight back to your bank; check its lobby for the poker formats open to your account. For payments you can use anything from a debit card to an e-wallet or crypto, and the welcome offer is +250% on your deposit.
Players rate it 5.0 on average across 2,748 reviews. That figure describes the operator as a whole rather than its poker tables, so read it as a sign of a large, established business with published terms and support you can reach, which is the baseline we want before we look at any lobby on a list of good online poker sites.
Now the part many review pages skip. We do not publish table counts, rake rates, tournament guarantees, rakeback figures or a poker-only bonus for 22BET, because we cannot confirm them from the operator’s own documents and they change. If its lobby shows poker for your account, read the rules page for rake and tournament fees, and check whether the welcome offer counts towards poker at all before you accept it. The minimum deposit depends on the method, so see the cashier.
Remember also that 22BET is an offshore operator without a GRAI licence. The duties that bind Irish licensees, such as the ban on credit card deposits and the obligation to offer deposit limits, do not apply to it in the same way. Set your own limit in the account settings on the first day, before your first session, not after a bad one.
What the rest of the poker shortlist must prove
You will not find nine more poker brands with invented player counts below. Instead, here is what any other room must show before it deserves a place next to our top pick. Use it when you read top online poker sites lists elsewhere, or when a brand claiming to be one of the best new poker sites lands in your inbox with a big headline offer.
Read the list in order. The first two points are pass-or-fail: an anonymous operator or vague cashout rules end the conversation, however tempting the freeroll schedule. The rest are trade-offs. A thin Omaha lobby does not matter to a Hold’em tournament player, and a loyalty scheme paid in tickets does not matter to someone who plays twice a month. Decide which points you can live without before you start comparing, not after a bonus has caught your eye.
An operator you can name, with a licence claim you can look up in the regulator’s public register.
Cashout rules, required documents and any payout ceilings published before your first deposit.
Cash tables running at your stakes between 8pm and midnight Irish time, checked on a weekday.
A rake page that states the percentage and the cap for each stake level, plus tournament fees beside each buy-in.
A tournament schedule with low and mid buy-ins every day, not only a big Sunday event.
A written policy on bots, collusion and real-time assistance software, and a way to report a suspicious player.
Rakeback or loyalty terms that say what a point is worth and whether rewards are cash.
Self-service limits, time-outs and self-exclusion in the account menu, with no email to support needed.
A euro balance and the methods Irish players know: debit cards, Apple Pay and Revolut.

Traffic: why player numbers decide the best site to play poker
Traffic, or liquidity, is the first thing to check because it decides whether the best site to play poker on paper is any good at 10pm on a Tuesday. A room with thin traffic gives you three problems at once: you wait for games, you meet the same regulars every night, and tournaments with low entries fall short of their guarantees or get cancelled. A busy room gives you choice, which is the only real defence against a bad table.
Irish players sit in a convenient time zone for European poker, which is good news for anyone after the best online poker in Ireland. Our evening overlaps with peak hours across much of the continent, so a room that draws players from several countries usually has tables running when you log on after work. What you need to know is whether that holds at your stakes. A lobby can show hundreds of players while the €0.02/€0.05 and €0.05/€0.10 no-limit tables, where most new players start, are half empty.
The fix is simple and takes five minutes. Before you deposit, open the lobby on a weekday evening, filter by game and stakes, and count. Note how many tables are running, how many seats are filled and whether there are waiting lists. Then check the tournament tab: lobbies show the number of registered players for upcoming events, which tells you more than any marketing page. Repeat at the weekend if you plan to play on Sundays, when tournament fields are usually at their largest.
Variants make the point sharper. Hold’em runs almost everywhere, but if you are looking for the best Omaha poker sites or the best stud poker sites, traffic is the whole story. A room may list Pot-Limit Omaha, seven-card stud and mixed games in its menu and have only one or two of those tables seated at the hours you play. Treat the menu as a promise and the lobby as the evidence.
Count running cash tables at your stakes between 8pm and midnight Irish time.
Check seat occupancy and waiting lists, not just the number of tables.
Look at registered entries for tonight’s low-buy-in tournaments.
Repeat the check for Omaha or stud if those are your games.
Note whether the lobby hides empty tables by default; switch that filter off.
Rake explained: what top poker sites really charge you
Rake is the fee a poker room takes for running the game, and it is the biggest cost in your poker year. In cash games it is usually a percentage of each pot, taken up to a cap. Many rooms follow a no-flop, no-drop rule, which means pots that end before the flop are not raked. In tournaments the fee is shown next to the buy-in: an event listed as €10 + €1 puts €10 into the prize pool and €1 into the room’s pocket.
The percentage and the cap pull in different directions depending on your stakes. At micro stakes the pots are small, the cap is rarely reached, and the percentage is what you pay. At higher stakes the pots grow and the cap does most of the work. That is why one room can be cheap for a €0.05/€0.10 player and expensive for a €1/€2 player, and why you should read the rake table for your own stake level rather than a headline figure.
The table below uses two invented rooms to show the maths. Room A takes 5% of each pot up to €3. Room B takes 4% up to €1. These are not any real site’s rates; they are round numbers chosen so you can follow the sums. Look at how the gap changes as pots grow: on small pots the two rooms are close, while on big pots Room B’s low cap saves you two euro or more every time.
Over a month the difference is real money. Say you win 300 pots averaging €20 at micro or low stakes. Room A takes €1 from each, €300 in all; Room B takes €0.80, €240 in all. That €60 gap is more than many poker bonuses are worth once you account for the conditions attached to them. When you compare the best poker sites for real money, the rake page is the first document worth reading.

Best poker rakeback: loyalty schemes and how they pay
Rakeback returns part of the rake you pay. Some rooms offer a flat percentage, others run a points scheme with tiers, weekly challenges, mystery rewards or a store where points buy tournament tickets. The headline percentage is only half the answer. What matters is how much rake you must generate to earn it, whether it is paid in cash or in tickets and bonus funds, and whether unused rewards expire at the end of the week or month.
Run the numbers on your own play rather than the room’s best-case example. Say you pay €40 in rake a month. A scheme that genuinely returns 20% in cash gives you €8 a month, which is pleasant but will not change your results. The same 20% paid as tickets to tournaments you would never enter is worth close to nothing. For a high-volume player paying several hundred euro a month in rake, though, the best poker rakeback can be the difference between breaking even and a small profit.
Tiers are where schemes catch people out. A room may advertise a top rate that only applies once you have paid a large amount of rake within a short window, with your status resetting every month. If you play a few evenings a week, you will spend your whole year on the bottom tier. Read the tier table, estimate your monthly rake honestly and use the rate you will actually reach.
Casino cashback is a different product with a similar name. It usually returns a share of your net losses on casino games over a period, rather than a share of the fee you pay. If you split time between poker and slots, our casino cashback guide explains how those offers are calculated and where the conditions sit. At 22BET, check the current promotions page to see which loyalty rewards apply to poker play.

Best poker bonuses and deals: how poker offers really work
Poker bonuses rarely work like casino bonuses. The classic poker welcome deal is released in small steps as you pay rake: you deposit, a bonus is reserved for you, and a portion is paid into your cash balance every time you earn a set number of loyalty points. You must clear it within a deadline, and anything not released by then is lost. It is a reward for playing a lot, not free money on day one.
Here is a hypothetical example to show the pace. Say a room offers a 100% bonus up to €100, released in €5 steps for every €25 of rake you pay, with 60 days to clear. To release all €100 you need to pay €500 in rake. At the €40-a-month rake from the rakeback example above, you would release about €16 a month and lose most of the bonus when the deadline passes. The best poker bonuses and the best online poker offers are the ones sized to your volume, not the biggest number on the banner.
The best poker deals are often simpler: tournament tickets, freerolls with small cash prizes, leaderboards for volume, and first-deposit tickets to a satellite. Tickets are only worth their face value if you would have entered that event anyway. Freerolls cost nothing but time, and the fields are large, so treat them as practice rather than income.
Multi-product sites add a third model: a casino-style match bonus with wagering. At 22BET the welcome offer is +250% on your deposit; check the bonus terms on the 22BET site for the wagering, the eligible games and whether poker counts at all, because many casino bonuses exclude poker or count it at a reduced rate. Our welcome bonus guide explains how wagering is calculated and which terms decide whether an offer is worth taking.

Best online poker tournament sites: formats, schedules and fees
For many Irish players poker means tournaments: a fixed buy-in, a long evening and a shot at a prize far bigger than the entry. The best online poker tournament sites share three things. They run events at low and mid buy-ins every night, not only on Sundays. They show the fee beside every buy-in. And they publish clear rules for late registration, re-entry and what happens if your connection drops.
Learn the formats before you compare schedules. A freezeout gives you one stack and no second chance. Re-entry and rebuy events let you buy back in during the early levels, which can turn a €5 tournament into a €20 evening if you are not careful. Bounty and progressive knockout events pay part of each entry as a reward for eliminating players. Satellites award seats to bigger events instead of cash. Sit & go tournaments start as soon as a set number of players register, and turbo or hyper-turbo versions speed up the blinds so luck plays a bigger part.
Guarantees deserve a second look. A guaranteed prize pool means the room tops up the prizes if entries fall short, which players call an overlay. That is good for you on the night, but a room that runs constant overlays may be short of traffic, and it may trim its guarantees later. Check registered entries in the lobby an hour before the start to see how a regular event is actually doing.
Finally, check the clock. A tournament that starts at 7pm Irish time and runs late into the night suits a weekend, not a work night. The best schedule for you has events that start when you are free and finish before you are tired, because late-night decisions are where most bankrolls leak.
Daily events at your buy-in level, with the fee shown next to the buy-in
Late registration and re-entry rules stated in the tournament lobby
A disconnection policy that says how your stack is protected
Satellites into bigger weekend events for small buy-ins
Start times that fit an Irish evening
Software and the best poker app: what a good client does
Software is easy to overlook until it fails during a big hand. A good poker client opens quickly, reconnects you after a dropped signal without folding your hand, shows bet-sizing buttons you can adjust, and keeps a time bank for tricky decisions. It lets you take notes on opponents, replay a hand, download your hand histories and choose a four-colour deck so you never confuse a flush draw. If you play more than one table, it should tile or cascade them neatly and highlight the table where it is your turn.
Most rooms now offer three ways to play: a downloadable client for Windows or Mac, a browser version and a mobile app. The best website to play online poker in a browser should feel as quick as the download. The best poker apps are not the ones with the flashiest lobby but the ones that let you play a full session on a phone without misclicks. Test the buttons in portrait mode, check that cards and stack sizes are readable on a small screen, and see whether you can switch between tables with a swipe. Our best mobile casino page covers what to test on any gambling app on iPhone and Android.
If you play seriously on a laptop, the hardware matters more than people admit. A larger screen lets you see several tables without overlapping. Enough memory keeps the client smooth while a browser and music are open. A wired connection or a strong Wi-Fi signal near the router does more for your results than any upgrade to the processor. That is the honest answer to the question of the best laptop for online poker: any reliable modern machine with a big, sharp screen and a stable connection will do.
Check the room’s policy on third-party software before you install anything. Some rooms allow tracking tools and heads-up displays, others restrict them, and almost all ban programs that give advice during a hand. The rules page should say which tools are allowed; if it does not, ask support in writing and keep the answer.
Anonymous tables, fast-fold games and fair play
Over the past decade many rooms have changed their tables to protect recreational players. Some use anonymous tables, where screen names are hidden or replaced with seat numbers, so regulars cannot build a database of notes on you. Others let you change your screen name, assign seats at random so strong players cannot pick on weaker ones, or limit how many tables one player can open. For a casual Irish player who logs on a few nights a week, these features make a room friendlier, and they belong on your list of what makes good poker sites.
Fast-fold poker, sold under different brand names, moves you to a new table with new opponents the moment you fold. It is quick and suits short sessions on a phone, but it also means more hands per hour, more rake per hour and fewer reads on opponents. Play it for the pace, not because it looks like better value.
Fair play is the other half. A trustworthy room publishes a policy on bots, collusion between players at the same table and real-time assistance software that tells a player what to do during a hand. It has a security team that investigates reports, closes accounts that break the rules and explains, at least in general terms, how money taken from cheats is handled. If you suspect a player, the client should let you report the hand directly.
You will not see a room’s security work, so look for signs that it exists: a fair-play page, regular account closures announced in general terms, a reporting button and support staff who take a report seriously rather than pasting a template. A room that cannot answer a simple question about collusion has no place among the best rated online poker sites.
Best casino poker and live poker: playing against the house
Not all online poker is player against player. Casino poker games such as Casino Hold’em, Caribbean Stud, Three Card Poker and video poker pit you against the house. There is no rake and no opponents to read; instead the casino keeps a built-in edge in the pay table, as it does in roulette or blackjack. You will find these games in the casino and live casino lobbies of most multi-product sites, which is why searches for the best poker casinos and the best online casino poker often lead to a different product from a poker room.
The two suit different moods. Player-vs-player poker rewards skill over thousands of hands and punishes tilt, but it needs time and study. Casino poker is quicker, easier to learn and fixed in its maths: good decisions reduce the house edge but cannot remove it. If you want a few hands with a drink after work, the best online poker casino for you is one with casino poker at low stakes. If you want to improve and compete, a poker room is the right place. Our best casino games guide compares house games by pace, complexity and stake range.
The best live poker sites in the casino sense are live dealer tables streamed from a studio, where a real dealer runs Casino Hold’em or a similar game and you bet against the house alongside other players. Check the paytable and side-bet rules on the table’s help screen before you play, and look at the minimum and maximum stakes. Our best live casino ranking explains how to test live lobbies, streams and table limits.
At 22BET, casino, live casino and sport share one account, so it is easy to move between the house games and the sportsbook. Check the lobby for which poker formats are open to your account, and read each game’s rules screen, before you stake real money.
Payments at poker sites for Irish players
A good poker room pays out the way you paid in, to an account in your name, with the verification rules stated before you deposit. For Irish players the methods are familiar: debit cards from AIB, Bank of Ireland or PTSB, Apple Pay and Google Pay, Revolut, bank transfers, prepaid vouchers, e-wallets and crypto. What differs between rooms is which of those work for withdrawals and how long the room takes to approve a payout; our fast withdrawal casino guide shows how to test that with a small cashout.
Two Irish rules are worth knowing. First, a GRAI licensee has been barred since 5 February 2026 from taking credit card payments, and that includes an e-wallet topped up from a credit card. Second, under the EU Instant Payments Regulation, banks in the euro area must send instant euro transfers, which Banking and Payments Federation Ireland describes as arriving within 10 seconds, at any hour, on any day, with Verification of Payee checking the name on the receiving account. An instant bank transfer still depends on when the poker room releases the payment, so check its own processing rules.
Match the method to your habits. A prepaid voucher keeps deposits small and separate from your bank account, but cashing out usually needs another route. Crypto deposits are quick, as our crypto casino Ireland guide explains, but price moves between deposit and withdrawal can change what your winnings are worth in euro, and disposals of crypto-assets can fall under capital gains tax. Our casino payment methods guide compares every option in more detail, and the Revolut casino page covers Ireland’s most popular fintech account.

Is online poker legal in Ireland? Licences, safety and tax in 2026
Irish gambling law is in transition. For decades it rested on several older acts, and Citizens Information notes that some newer forms of betting and gaming were not covered by any regulations. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 replaces that patchwork in phases. Its regulator, the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland, was established on 5 March 2025, began issuing remote betting licences from 1 July 2026, and lists 39 business-to-consumer licence holders in its public register as of October 2026, all of them betting firms.
Gaming licences come later. GRAI says applications for the remaining licences, including gaming, will open throughout 2027 and 2028, and it has yet to approve the list of games a Remote Gaming Licence will cover. So when you compare the best Irish poker sites today, none of them can show an Irish gaming licence. That is why our gates focus on what you can verify now: a named operator, a checkable licence claim and clear withdrawal rules, the same checks we use for any safe online casino.
Some protections are already law for GRAI licensees: no credit card payments, a facility to set a monetary limit, a duty not to unreasonably withhold winnings, and a ban on letting anyone under 18 play. One request to the National Gambling Exclusion Register will eventually exclude you from every licensed remote operator, but those sections of the Act are not in force yet. Until it is, use the self-exclusion and limit tools inside each account.
On tax, Revenue’s list of gains exempt from capital gains tax includes betting and lottery wins. If poker is a serious second income rather than a hobby, speak to Revenue or a tax adviser about your own position. Crypto is separate: if you hold winnings in crypto and later sell at a profit, that disposal can be liable to CGT.
Best poker site for beginners, free poker and your first bankroll
The best poker site for beginners has three features: play-money or free tables to learn the buttons, busy micro-stakes cash games and low-buy-in tournaments, and simple tools to cap your spending. Free tables answer the search for the best online poker sites with no money, but treat them as a tutorial. Play-money players call almost everything, so the habits you learn there do not carry over. Move to the smallest real-money stakes as soon as you know the rules and the software.
Bankroll management is the habit that keeps beginners in the game. Decide on a sum you can afford to lose, keep it separate from your living money and size your stakes so that a bad run does not wipe you out. Here is a worked example: with a €200 poker bankroll, €0.02/€0.05 no-limit tables with a €5 buy-in give you 40 buy-ins, while €0.05/€0.10 tables with a €10 buy-in give you 20. The first leaves room for the swings every player meets; the second is already tight.
The same thinking applies to tournaments, where swings are bigger because most entries finish without a prize. A €200 bankroll spread over €1 and €2 tournaments lasts long enough to learn; the same €200 in €20 events can be gone in a fortnight. Set a deposit limit in your account to match the plan, and see our responsible gambling page if poker stops feeling like a hobby.
Learn on free tablesUse play-money tables for a few sessions to learn the software, bet sizing and time bank.
Fix your bankrollPick an amount you can afford to lose, deposit only that and set a matching deposit limit.
Start one table at micro stakesPlay a single cash table or a low-buy-in tournament and focus on position and starting hands.
Review your handsDownload hand histories after each session and look at your biggest pots, wins and losses alike.
Move up slowlyStep up a level only when your bankroll covers enough buy-ins at the new stakes, and step down after a bad run.
Best poker books for improving your game, and coaching
Choosing a room is half the job; the other half is getting better. The best poker books for improving your game still teach the fundamentals that software and solvers build on, and they are cheap compared with a single bad session. If you want the best poker books to improve your game quickly, read with a purpose: one book on fundamentals, then one on your main format, then one on the mental side.
For the best poker books for beginners, start with titles that explain why decisions are right, not just which hand to play. For the best poker books for cash games, look for modern no-limit Hold’em material on ranges and bet sizing. For the best poker books for tournament play, choose authors who cover stack sizes, the bubble and late-stage pressure. The list below is a starting shelf, not a ranking.

Top 10 poker sites Ireland: our ten-point checklist
Searches for the top 10 poker sites in Ireland usually lead to lists of ten brands with ratings nobody can check. We do it differently. Our number one is a real operator with confirmed data; the other nine places are the checks that any site has to pass to earn a spot beside it. Score each site you consider against the list, and you have your own top ten built on evidence rather than banners.
Treat the list as a filter, not a scorecard to add up. A room that fails points two or three is out, however well it does elsewhere. A room that passes everything but has thin traffic at your stakes might still suit a tournament player who only plays the Sunday events. Keep notes when you test, because the best sites to play poker this year may not be the same rooms next year.
#1 22BET: one account for casino, live casino and sport, +250% on your deposit, 5.0 from 2,748 reviews, many payment methods.
#2 A named operator with a licence claim you can check in a public register.
#3 Withdrawal rules and document checks written down before you deposit.
#4 Busy cash tables at your stakes on Irish weekday evenings.
#5 A rake page with percentages and caps for every stake, and fees beside every buy-in.
#6 A nightly tournament schedule with low buy-ins and fair late-registration rules.
#7 A stable client and app with hand histories, notes and a reconnect that protects your hand.
#8 Fair-play rules against bots, collusion and real-time assistance, with a reporting button.
#9 Rakeback or loyalty rewards paid in cash, with a tier you can realistically reach.
#10 Self-service protection: limits, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion in your own account settings.
Who these top online poker sites don’t suit
Our ranking of the best poker gambling sites favours the recreational and semi-serious player who wants one account, familiar payment methods and a sensible mix of cash games and tournaments. It is not built for everyone. If you play many tables at once and rely on specific tracking software, compare traffic and third-party software policies room by room before you commit, because those details decide your results more than any bonus. For that player, the best online poker site for real money is the one with the deepest games at their exact stakes.
If you will only play with an operator holding an Irish licence, you will need to wait for gaming licences, which GRAI expects to open throughout 2027 and 2028. And if you have excluded yourself from gambling, or poker is causing money or relationship problems, no poker site is the answer. Talk to someone first: Gambling Care runs a national helpline on 1800 936 725, around the clock, and our responsible gambling page lists more services across Ireland.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best online poker sites in Ireland?
Our top pick is 22BET, which puts casino, live casino and sport on one account and offers +250% on your deposit. It is an offshore operator without a GRAI licence. Judge any other site on traffic at your stakes, rake, tournaments, payments and clear withdrawal rules.
Which are the best online poker sites for real money in 2026?
The best real money poker sites in 2026 combine busy tables at your stakes with a low rake, a nightly tournament schedule and fast, documented withdrawals. Use our ten-point checklist on every site, because rankings based only on bonuses tell you little about the tables.
What is the best poker site for beginners?
Look for free tables to learn the software, busy micro-stakes games, low-buy-in tournaments and easy deposit limits. Start with one table, a bankroll you can afford to lose and the smallest real-money stakes once you know the rules.
Is online poker legal in Ireland?
Irish gambling law is moving to the Gambling Regulation Act 2024 in phases. GRAI licenses betting operators now, while gaming licence applications open throughout 2027 and 2028, so no online poker room holds an Irish gaming licence yet. Check each site’s operator and licence claim yourself.
Do I pay tax on poker winnings in Ireland?
Revenue lists gains from betting and lottery wins among the gains not subject to capital gains tax. Anyone treating poker as a main or second income should check their own position with Revenue or a tax adviser. Profits on crypto you sell later can be liable to CGT.
What is the best poker app?
The best poker app lets you play a full session on your phone without misclicks: readable cards and stacks in portrait mode, adjustable bet buttons, a reliable reconnect and quick switching between tables. Test the app with a small session before you deposit more.
Which poker sites have the best rakeback?
The best poker rakeback is the scheme that pays in cash at a tier you will actually reach. Check how much rake each tier needs, whether status resets monthly and whether rewards expire. A high headline rate paid in tickets you will not use is worth little.
Are there good online poker sites with no money?
Many rooms run play-money tables and freerolls, which are the best free poker games for learning the software. Play-money opponents call too often, so move to micro-stakes real-money tables once you know the rules if you want habits that work.
What are the best cards in poker?
In Texas Hold’em the strongest starting hand is a pair of aces, followed by kings and queens. The best possible final hand is a royal flush: ace, king, queen, jack and ten of the same suit. Our poker online guide lists every hand in order.
Who are the best poker players of all time?
Names that come up in most lists include Doyle Brunson, Stu Ungar, Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth. Ireland has its own world champion too: Dublin’s Noel Furlong won the World Series of Poker Main Event.
Where can I play Omaha or stud online?
Many rooms list Pot-Limit Omaha, seven-card stud and mixed games, but traffic is thin outside Hold’em. Before you deposit, check the lobby on a weekday evening for running tables at your stakes in the variant you want.
Is 22BET good for poker?
22BET suits players who want casino, live casino and sport on one account, with many payment methods and +250% on your deposit. See which poker formats its lobby offers your account, read the poker rules for rake, tournaments and rewards, and check whether the welcome offer counts towards poker before you accept it.
