Short answerThe mines game is a casino instant game, not a slot: you choose a stake and how many mines to hide, then open tiles one by one, and each safe tile raises the payout until you cash out or hit a mine. More mines mean bigger jumps and shorter rounds, but no setting beats the house edge, and no pattern or predictor can find the mines. Practise in the free demo on this page, then play for real money at 22BET, which offers +250% on your deposit.

What is the mines game? Spribe’s casino grid game explained

Mines is an instant game from Spribe, the studio behind Aviator. The screen shows a 5×5 board of 25 face-down tiles. Some hide gems, the rest hide mines, and before the round you choose your stake and how many mines to place. Each gem you uncover pushes the multiplier on the cash-out button higher. Cash out and you collect your stake times that multiplier; uncover a mine and the round is over, stake gone. If you would rather make no choices after the bet, Plinko drops a ball through pegs instead, and our list of the best casino games compares Mines with slots, tables and live shows.

Despite the name, this is not the Minesweeper puzzle from old office computers. Minesweeper gives you number clues, so careful logic finds the safe squares. The mines casino game gives you nothing: every tile is a blind pick, and the positions are set by the game’s random number generator before you click. Your real decisions are the stake, the number of mines and when to stop. Its closest cousin is Chicken Road, where each safe lane also raises the payout.

Mines game rules: the grid, the mines and cash out

A round has a simple shape. You set the stake and the number of mines, press Bet, and the board goes live. Click any tile. A gem lights up, the multiplier rises and the cash-out button shows your current payout; you can then pick again or take the money. A mine ends the round at once, and the board reveals where every mine was hidden. If you clear every safe tile, the round pays the top multiplier for that setting.

Mines game: classic slot lever and gold coins in the air

Most versions also offer a random-pick button and an auto mode that repeats a chosen pattern of tiles for a set number of rounds. Both are conveniences, not advantages, because every tile has the same chance. The rules screen at your casino lists the top multiplier, the maximum payout per bet and the RTP for that version.

Number of mines vs multiplier: the maths behind every pick

The multipliers in Mines follow simple counting. With 3 mines on the board, your first pick is safe if it lands on one of the 22 gems among 25 tiles: 88% of the time. The second pick is safe on 21 of the 24 tiles left, and each gem you open makes the next pick a little riskier. A fair multiplier is simply one divided by the chance of surviving every pick so far. The game pays slightly less than fair, and that gap is the house edge.

Two things follow. First, more mines do not make the game better or worse value; they change its shape. One mine gives tiny steps you will usually survive, while 10 mines give huge jumps that most rounds never see. Second, mines and picks are interchangeable: 3 mines with 5 picks carries exactly the same odds as 5 mines with 3 picks, a fair 2.02x either way. That is why the popular 3 mines game setting feels like a middle road: early picks are fairly safe, and five gems already double the stake.

Use the table below to choose a setting before you play. The figures are fair multipliers worked out from the board itself, not Spribe’s paytable, so the real game shows slightly lower numbers. Read across a row to see how fast risk compounds: with 5 mines, going from three gems to five lifts the fair multiplier from 2.02x to 3.43x, but the chance of getting there falls from about one in two to under one in three.

How to play the mines game, step by step

The controls are the same in the demo on this page and in a casino account. Learn them with fun credits first, so that cashing out becomes a habit rather than a decision made under pressure.

  1. Open the gameLaunch the demo here, or find Mines in a casino lobby under instant or crash games. Check whether the balance shows fun credits or euro.
  2. Choose the minesStart with 3 mines while you learn; change the setting only once you know how it plays.
  3. Set your stakePick an amount you could lose twenty times in a row without changing your plans.
  4. Decide your exitFix the number of gems or the multiplier where you will cash out before the first click.
  5. Pick and bankOpen tiles one by one and cash out as soon as you reach your target, not one tile later.

Is the mines game rigged? Provably fair, explained

A common worry about any online mines game is that the casino moves a mine under your tile after you click. Many instant games answer that with a provably fair system. Before the round, the server commits to a secret seed and shows you its hash; your own client seed is mixed in, and together they decide where the mines sit. After the round the seeds are revealed, so you can open the round in your history and check with an independent hash tool that the board was set before your first click and never changed. If the round history at your casino shows no seeds, that check is not available there, so look for it before you play for real money.

Phone with a face-check frame and an ID card

Provably fair settles honesty, not value. The multipliers still sit slightly below fair odds, so the average round returns less than it costs, and each new round gets a fresh board. A run of mines in the top corner says nothing about where the next ones will be.

Mines game strategy: what you can and cannot control

Every guide on how to win the mines game runs into the same fact: mine positions are random and fixed before you click, so corners, edges and diagonals are no safer than the middle. Mines game prediction tools, pattern generators, hacks and earning apps cannot see a board the random number generator sets before you click. They make money from subscriptions, referral deposits or stolen casino logins, and an APK from a stranger can put malware on your phone. Treat all of them as scams.

What you can control is the shape of a session. Take €1 rounds with 3 mines, cashing out after five gems: the fair chance of getting there is just under one in two, so forty rounds cost €40 and return a little under that on average, with wins of about €2. With 1 mine and three picks you win close to nine rounds in ten, but each win adds only about €0.14, so one loss wipes out around seven wins. Neither is better value; pick the rhythm that suits your budget.

The trap is raising the risk to win back a loss: adding mines or extra picks after a bad run turns a steady session into a few big swings, and budgets rarely survive that. Say three €1 rounds at 3 mines go wrong and you switch to 10 mines with five picks to recover the €3: the fair chance of reaching 17.7x is about one in eighteen, so a fourth lost stake is far more likely than a recovery.

  • Set a budget in euro and a time limit before the first round.
  • Choose the number of mines and your cash-out point in advance.
  • Keep the stake flat; never raise it or the mines to chase a loss.
  • Stop after a good win as well as at your loss limit.

Mines game demo, free play and apps

The mines game demo on this page is Spribe’s own free version. It runs in the browser with fun credits, needs no download, and plays exactly like the real thing, so searches for a mines game with fake money or no money end here. Play a hundred rounds with 3 mines and a fixed exit, then try 10 mines, and watch how differently the balance moves. Nothing won in demo mode can be withdrawn. More instant-game demos are listed on our free slots page.

You do not need a separate Mines app to play for real money: the game runs inside casino lobbies, and any good mobile casino runs it in the phone’s browser with the same grid. Many other studios and crypto casinos run their own versions, from titles such as Turbo Mines to themed gold, diamond or crystal mines games, with their own board sizes, settings and returns. The multipliers on this page assume the 25-tile board.

Play the mines game for real money in Ireland

To play Mines for real money you need an account at an online casino that carries Spribe games. Ireland’s regulator, the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland, licenses online betting but not yet online casinos: gaming licence applications open throughout 2027 and 2028, so read each operator’s terms before you deposit. Our real money casino guide lists the checks worth making.

You fund the game from your casino balance. From Ireland the usual options are debit cards, Revolut, e-wallets and crypto, compared in our casino payment methods and Revolut casino guides, with a separate guide to crypto casino play. A mines game real money withdrawal goes through the cashier like any other, and the first one usually comes with an ID check; our fast withdrawal casino page explains what speeds it up.

Our pick for instant games is 22BET, which keeps its casino, live dealer tables and sports betting under one login and takes cards, e-wallets and crypto. New players get +250% on your deposit, and 2,748 player reviews give it a 5.0 rating. As an offshore operator, 22BET holds no GRAI licence, so check that Mines appears in its instant-games section and whether these games count towards bonus wagering. Quick rounds need firm limits, and our responsible gambling page lists Irish helplines.

Frequently asked questions

Is the mines game real or fake?

Mines is a real casino game from Spribe, offered in many online casino lobbies. Stand-alone earning apps and signal groups that use the name are not the official game.

What are the mines game rules?

Choose a stake and the number of mines, then open tiles on the 5×5 board. Each gem raises the multiplier; cash out to collect, or lose the stake if you hit a mine.

How many mines should I choose?

It depends on the rhythm you want. Few mines give frequent small wins, many mines give rare big ones, and none changes the house edge. Three mines is a popular middle setting.

Is there a pattern or hack for the mines game?

No. Mine positions are random and fixed before you click, so predictors, pattern generators and hacks cannot know them. They are scams.

Can I play the mines game for free?

Yes. The demo on this page uses fun credits with the same rules as the real game and needs no download. Demo wins cannot be withdrawn.

What is the RTP of the mines game?

We have not confirmed an official figure on Spribe’s pages, and casinos can run different settings. Check the game’s rules screen at your casino.

Can I withdraw real money from the mines game?

Yes, when you play at a real-money casino. Winnings go to your casino balance and you withdraw them through the cashier, usually after an ID check.

Is there a mines game app download?

You do not need one. Play inside a casino’s mobile site or app, and avoid APK files promoted in adverts or chat groups.

Is the casino mines game the same as Minesweeper?

No. Minesweeper is a logic puzzle with number clues. Casino Mines has no clues: every tile is a random pick and you bet on how far to go.

Can I play the mines game in Ireland?

Adults can play at online casinos that accept Irish players. No online casino holds a GRAI gaming licence yet, so read the operator’s terms and set limits first.
