An Ethereum casino accepts ETH and, very often, USDT and other tokens that travel on Ethereum and similar networks. The coin is only half the decision: the network you pick decides the fee, the speed and whether your deposit arrives at all. This guide covers networks, gas, confirmations, wallet steps, stablecoins under MiCA and the Irish tax rules in euro terms.

Short answerAn Ethereum casino lets you deposit ETH or tokens such as USDT by sending them to an address in the cashier, on the exact network the cashier names. Every transfer on Ethereum costs a gas fee paid in ETH, so keep a little ETH in the wallet even when you send USDT. Betting winnings are exempt from CGT, but gains on the coins themselves are taxed at 31% for disposals from 7 October 2026, after the €1,270 annual exemption.

Ethereum casino basics: ETH, USDT and the network underneath

An Ethereum casino is an online casino whose cashier accepts ether (ETH), the native coin of the Ethereum network, and usually a set of tokens that run on Ethereum or on networks built the same way. The most common of those tokens is USDT, the Tether stablecoin that tracks the US dollar. You send coins from a wallet to an address the casino gives you; when you cash out, the casino sends coins to an address you supply.

What sets Ethereum apart from Bitcoin at the cashier is the token layer. A Bitcoin deposit is just bitcoin. An Ethereum deposit can be ETH itself or one of many tokens, and the same token can exist on several networks. So a cashier row reads like “USDT – ERC-20” or “USDT – TRC-20”, and the second half matters as much as the first. Pick coin and network correctly and the deposit is routine; mix them up and the coins can be lost.

The general case for crypto at casinos, from volatility to provably fair games, is in our crypto casino Ireland guide, and the Bitcoin side is in our Bitcoin casino guide. This page stays with ETH and USDT: networks, gas, confirmations, wallets, stablecoin rules and tax.

Licensing first, briefly. No online casino holds a GRAI licence in October 2026, because gaming licence applications open throughout 2027 and 2028, so every Ethereum online casino open to Irish players is offshore and works under its own terms. A crypto payment is final once it confirms, which makes reading those terms before you send more important, not less.

ETH or USDT: which coin to use at an Ethereum casino

Most players choosing between ETH and a tether casino deposit are really choosing which risk to carry. ETH is a volatile asset: its euro price can move a long way between your deposit and your withdrawal, in either direction, and that movement has nothing to do with your luck at the tables. USDT is designed to hold a steady value against the US dollar, which removes most of that swing.

Ethereum casino: silver crypto coin and a hardware wallet next to chips

Most, not all. USDT tracks the dollar, and you think in euro. If the euro strengthens against the dollar while your balance sits in USDT, the euro value of that balance falls. A hypothetical: you hold 540 USDT worth €500 on the day you deposit, and the euro then gains 3% against the dollar. The same 540 USDT is now worth about €485. It is a small effect next to ETH's swings, but it is not zero, and it shows up again when you sell.

Euro-pegged stablecoins remove the currency effect, but fewer cashiers list them. The practical rule: use a coin that both your exchange and the casino support on the same network, keep your budget in euro, and if you hold ETH, treat its price risk as part of the gamble.

Ethereum, layer 2, Tron, BNB Smart Chain or Solana: picking the network

The network is the road your coins travel on. ETH and USDT both run on Ethereum's main network, where tokens follow the ERC-20 standard, and on cheaper layer 2 networks such as Arbitrum, Optimism or Base that settle back to Ethereum. USDT also runs on Tron as a TRC-20 token, on BNB Smart Chain and on Solana, among others. A cashier lists coin and network together, and your wallet or exchange must send on that exact network.

Here is the trap that catches experienced players. Ethereum, its layer 2 networks and BNB Smart Chain all use addresses in the same format, starting with 0x. An address copied from the casino's Ethereum row looks perfectly valid to a wallet set to Arbitrum or BNB Smart Chain, and the wallet will not warn you. The coins arrive at the same address on the wrong network, where the casino may not be watching. Some casinos can recover such deposits, slowly and at their discretion; many cannot.

Tron and Solana addresses look different, so a wallet usually rejects them on an Ethereum-style network, which is a small mercy. For everything else the fix is a habit: read the network name in the cashier, select the same name in your wallet or exchange, and send a small test first.

Gas fees: what an Ethereum casino deposit really costs

Every transaction on Ethereum pays a fee called gas, and it is paid in ETH. Gas measures the work a transaction asks the network to do, and the price per unit rises and falls with demand. A plain ETH transfer is the simplest job, while sending a token such as USDT takes more work and therefore more gas. The fee does not depend on how much you send, so €20 and €2,000 cost about the same to move.

Two consequences follow. First, small deposits on Ethereum's main network can lose a large slice to fees when the network is busy. Say your wallet quotes a fee worth €3 for a €30 deposit: a tenth of your stake is gone before the first spin. On a layer 2 network, or another low-fee network the cashier supports, the same move usually costs far less. Second, the fee is fixed at the moment you send. Your wallet shows it before you confirm, often with slow, normal and fast options, and it is worth reading.

Then there is the trap that strands more USDT than any other: gas on Ethereum is always paid in ETH. If your wallet holds 200 USDT and no ETH, the USDT cannot move on the main network. Other networks charge in their own coin, so the same logic applies there. Keep a little of the network's native coin in your wallet before you plan a token deposit or withdrawal, and remember that any casino withdrawal fee is a separate charge shown in its cashier.

Fees are lowest when demand is low. If a deposit can wait, sending at a quieter hour or on a cheaper network beats paying the fast rate to save a few minutes.

Confirmations: why an ETH deposit takes minutes, not seconds

When you send ETH or USDT, the transaction first waits in a pool of pending transactions. Validators pick from that pool, usually favouring higher fees, and add transactions to the chain in batches. Once yours is included it has one confirmation, and each new batch adds another. Casinos credit a deposit after a set number of confirmations, stated in the cashier or on the payments page, because each one makes the transaction harder to undo.

Euros flowing from a laptop to a phone with a green tick

In practice an Ethereum deposit with a normal fee usually confirms within minutes, and layer 2 networks often feel quicker still. Delays have predictable causes: a fee set too low for a busy moment, a casino that wants more confirmations than you expected, or an earlier transaction from the same wallet still pending, which holds up everything queued behind it. If a transaction is stuck, many wallets offer “speed up” or “cancel”, which re-sends it with a higher fee. Do not send the same deposit again from scratch.

Every transaction has a hash, a long ID your wallet shows after you send. Paste it into a blockchain explorer for the right network and you can see whether it is pending, how many confirmations it has and which address received it. Keep it: it is the first thing casino support asks for.

Setting up a wallet for Ethereum casino payments

You need two things: somewhere to buy ETH or USDT with euro, and a wallet you control for moving coins to and from casinos. Buy on an exchange authorised under MiCA, either by the Central Bank of Ireland or by another EU regulator and passported here; our crypto casino guide explains that check. For the wallet, a self-custody app gives you the keys through a recovery phrase, so nobody else, casino or exchange, can move your coins.

The steps below build a setup that keeps casino money apart from savings. It takes a little time once and saves you from the expensive mistakes later.

  1. Verify at an authorised exchangeOpen an account with a MiCA-authorised provider, upload ID once and fund it in euro by SEPA Instant or debit card.
  2. Install a self-custody walletChoose a well-known wallet app that supports the networks you plan to use, downloaded only from the official app store listing.
  3. Write the recovery phrase on paperKeep it offline and private. No casino, exchange or support agent ever needs it; anyone who asks is trying to steal.
  4. Add the networks you needEnable Ethereum and any layer 2 or other network your casino lists, so the wallet shows the right balance for each.
  5. Keep a little native coin for feesHold some ETH, plus the native coin of any other network you use, so token transfers never get stuck.
  6. Label casino addressesSave each casino deposit address with a clear label and network name, and re-check it in the cashier before every deposit.

How to deposit ETH or USDT at an Ethereum casino

A crypto deposit is a payment you push, and nothing can pull it back. These are the Ethereum-specific steps; the main differences from a Bitcoin deposit are the network choice, the gas coin and token permissions.

One more rule matters on Ethereum in particular. At a casino with a normal cashier, a deposit is a plain send from your wallet to an address. If a site asks you to connect your wallet and sign an “approve” or “permit” request to fund your account, slow down: an approval can give a contract permission to move your tokens later, and fake casino and airdrop pages use exactly that trick to empty wallets.

  1. Choose coin and network in the cashierPick ETH or USDT and the exact network, for example ERC-20 or TRC-20. Note the minimum deposit for that row.
  2. Copy the deposit addressUse the copy button or QR code. Some casinos give each player a personal address that can change, so take it fresh each time.
  3. Match the network in your walletSelect the same network in your wallet or exchange. A 0x address alone does not tell you which network it belongs to.
  4. Check the fee and your gas balanceMake sure you hold enough of the network's coin for gas and that the amount after fees stays above the casino minimum.
  5. Send a small test firstMove a small amount, wait until it is credited, then send the rest to the same address on the same network.
  6. Keep the transaction hashSave the hash and a screenshot of the credited balance in case support needs to trace the payment.

Withdrawing ETH or USDT and turning it back into euro

A withdrawal is the deposit in reverse, with one extra decision: where the coins land. You can send them to your own wallet and move them on later, or straight to your exchange account to sell. Going straight to the exchange saves a fee and a step, but only if the exchange supports that coin on that network. An exchange that takes USDT on Ethereum may not accept it on Tron, and coins sent on an unsupported network may never be credited.

Banking app on a phone showing a confirmed payment

Before you request a payout, check the casino's withdrawal fee and minimum for the coin and network, both shown in the cashier. Most of the waiting is the casino's pending period and checks; once the money is released, the network leg usually takes minutes. Then sell on the exchange and send euro to your IE IBAN, which can take 10 seconds where the exchange pays out by SEPA Instant. Our instant withdrawal casino guide explains where the time really goes.

A worked hypothetical: you withdraw 300 USDT from a casino to your exchange on Tron, sell it for euro and send the money to your bank. Along the way you may pay the casino's withdrawal fee, the exchange's trading fee or spread, and a fee for the euro transfer out of the exchange. Each is small on its own, so note all of them once; their total is the real cost of a crypto payout, not the network fee alone.

Stablecoins under MiCA: what USDT users in Ireland should know

Stablecoins are regulated in the EU under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), published on 9 June 2023. Its rules for issuers of asset-referenced tokens and e-money tokens, the two categories stablecoins fall into, have applied since 30 June 2024, and its rules for crypto-asset service providers, or CASPs, since 30 December 2024. The Central Bank of Ireland is the national competent authority.

Providers registered in Ireland before 30 December 2024 could keep operating for up to 12 months, until 30 December 2025; since then anyone offering crypto services here needs CASP authorisation. In January 2025 the European Securities and Markets Authority told providers to stop offering stablecoins that do not comply with MiCA by the end of the first quarter of 2025, while still allowing them to hold and transfer customers' existing balances.

ESMA did not name individual tokens, and we have not seen an official statement on USDT's status under MiCA, so we make no claim either way. The practical question is simpler: does your authorised exchange sell the stablecoin you want to EU customers, and on which networks? If it does not offer USDT, it may offer a MiCA-compliant dollar or euro stablecoin instead, and a casino that lists that token on a network your exchange supports is the easier match.

Note what MiCA does not do. It regulates issuers and providers, not casinos, so an offshore cashier listing a stablecoin tells you nothing about that token's standing in the EU.

CGT on ETH and USDT: 31% from 7 October 2026 and the €1,270 exemption

Revenue's list of gains exempt from Capital Gains Tax includes betting, lottery wins, prize bonds and sweepstakes, so what you win at the tables is not taxed as a gain. Your coins are another matter. Revenue brings crypto-assets within CGT, so disposing of ETH or USDT, selling it for euro being the obvious case, can create a chargeable gain or an allowable loss measured against what you paid.

The rate changed with Budget 2027. For most disposals from 7 October 2026 CGT is 31%; the 33% rate applied to disposals from 6 December 2021 to 6 October 2026. Each person's first €1,270 of chargeable gains in a year is exempt. For ETH holders that exemption absorbs modest price gains; for USDT users gains tend to be small because the token tracks the dollar, but a move in the euro–dollar rate can still leave a gain or a loss when you sell.

Whether swapping ETH for USDT, or sending coins to a casino, counts as a disposal in your situation is a question for Revenue's guidance or a tax adviser; this page is not tax advice. What you can always do is keep records: date, coin, network, amount, euro value and transaction hash for every purchase, deposit, withdrawal, swap and sale. The hypothetical table shows how the numbers work.

Ethereum slots, live dealer tables and Ethereum blackjack

Paying in ETH does not change a game's maths. Ethereum slots are the same titles from the same studios you find at euro casinos, so the provider's RTP still applies: Pragmatic Play lists Gates of Olympus at 96.50%, Big Bass Bonanza at 96.71% and Sweet Bonanza at 96.48%, and NetEnt lists Starburst at 96.08%. Casinos can run other versions, so open the game's information screen before you play. Our online slots guide shows how to compare them.

Hand holding a debit card while paying on a smartphone

An Ethereum casino live dealer lobby works like any live casino: real tables streamed from a studio, with your balance shown in coin or converted to euro. Ethereum blackjack, tether blackjack and the Tron or Solana blackjack tables people search for are the same game with a different cashier. The rule that matters is printed on the table: a blackjack paying 3 to 2 is standard, while 6 to 5 costs the player roughly 1.39% more. At roulette, a single-zero wheel's 2.70% edge beats the 5.26% of a double-zero wheel. Our online blackjack guide and live casino guide go further.

“Is electronic blackjack rigged?” is a fair question with a dull answer. Studio games use random number generators, and in-house crypto games may be provably fair, letting you check that a result was not altered. Neither changes the house edge, which is how every casino game makes money over time. If a game's RTP is missing or its rules are unclear, pick another table.

Poker players searching for the strongest poker hands get the same order at any table, whatever the cashier: royal flush, straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair, high card. Our online poker guide covers the casino and live versions. One thing a coin balance does change is stake display: bets shown as tiny fractions of ETH make it easy to lose track of the euro cost, so switch the display to euro where you can.

Other coins at Ethereum casino sites: Litecoin, Dogecoin, XRP, Solana, Tron and BNB

Most Ethereum casino sites list a wider menu, and searches for Litecoin, Dogecoin, XRP, Solana, Tron or BNB casino sites follow the same logic as ETH: the coin must match the network, the fee is paid in the network's own coin, and the casino's minimum applies row by row. A few traits are worth knowing before you pick one.

Searches for a Litecoin casino bonus or a Dogecoin casino bonus usually lead to ordinary bonus terms: the coin you deposit rarely changes the offer, but terms can exclude crypto or treat it differently, so read them first. And if you would rather not use crypto at all, a debit card works at most cashiers, including older Visa Electron cards where the casino accepts them; our Visa casino guide covers card payments.

  • Litecoin (LTC): a separate network with low fees; its addresses differ from Bitcoin's, so never mix the two.
  • Dogecoin (DOGE): cheap to send and widely listed, and as volatile as any coin.
  • XRP: many cashiers require a destination tag with the address; leave it out and the coins may not reach your balance.
  • Solana (SOL): fast and low-fee, with its own address format; USDT on Solana is a different row from USDT on Ethereum.
  • Tron (TRX): best known at casinos as the network for TRC-20 USDT; keep some TRX for fees.
  • BNB: the native coin of BNB Smart Chain, which shares the 0x address format with Ethereum.

Ethereum casino bonus offers and how to read ETH casino reviews

A bonus at an Ethereum casino works like any other, with one extra wrinkle: wagering is usually counted in the casino's base currency. If your balance is held in ETH, the euro value of the bonus and of the wagering still to do both move with the price. A maximum bet rule written in euro can also be broken by accident when the coin jumps and your usual stake is suddenly worth more.

A hypothetical: a casino offers a 100% match up to 0.1 ETH with 40x wagering on the bonus. You deposit 0.1 ETH worth €250, receive 0.1 ETH of bonus and must wager 4 ETH, about €10,000 at that price, before the bonus becomes cash. If ETH falls 20% while you play, the wagering is worth €8,000, and so is everything else in the balance worth a fifth less. That is why many players prefer bonuses at casinos that convert crypto into a euro balance. Our welcome bonus guide explains wagering and maximum bets.

Ethereum casino reviews are most useful when you read them for payouts, not bonuses. Look for complaints about withdrawal delays, surprise verification at cash-out, unsupported networks and late credits, then test the site yourself with a small deposit and a small withdrawal. Our pick, 22BET, offers +250% on your deposit; check the bonus terms on its site for crypto eligibility and wagering before you opt in.

Best Ethereum casino: what we check, and our pick

The best Ethereum casino for an Irish player is the one that gets the plumbing right: the coins and networks you use, clear minimums and fees per row, honest withdrawal terms and a payout that arrives when the terms say it will. Rankings of the best ETH online casino sites rarely test any of that, so here is the checklist we use, along with our best crypto casino ranking.

Phone with a face-check frame and an ID card

On that checklist our pick is 22BET. It accepts crypto among a wide choice of payment methods, alongside cards and e-wallets, and puts casino, live casino and sportsbook on one account. Players rate it 5.0 from 2,748 reviews, and new players get +250% on your deposit.

Check which coins and networks the 22BET cashier shows for your account before you send anything, and the minimum for each. It is an offshore operator without a GRAI licence, so verify your account early and make a small first withdrawal before you move larger amounts.

  • ETH and USDT listed with the network named on every row, for deposits and withdrawals.
  • A minimum and any withdrawal fee shown for each coin and network before you send.
  • Low-fee networks offered alongside Ethereum's main network.
  • Clear withdrawal terms: pending time, verification triggers and limits.
  • A named operator, a licence statement you can check, and support that can trace a transaction hash.
  • Deposit limits and time-outs in the account settings.

Keeping Ethereum gambling in check

Crypto lets you deposit at three in the morning without a card statement to remind you what you spent. Set a monthly budget in euro, not in coins, use the casino's deposit limit, and keep gambling coins in a separate wallet from savings.

A gambling block in your banking app may not cover coins you already hold, so the casino's own limits matter more here. If play stops being fun, Extern Problem Gambling offers free counselling on 089 241 5401, and our responsible gambling page lists other Irish support.

Frequently asked questions

What is an Ethereum casino?

It is an online casino that accepts ETH, and usually tokens such as USDT, in its cashier. You send coins from your wallet to the address shown, on the network the cashier names, and the balance is credited after the network confirms the transaction. Withdrawals go to a wallet address you provide.

Is ETH or USDT better for casino deposits?

USDT keeps a steady value against the US dollar, so your balance does not swing with the crypto market, though it still moves slightly with the euro–dollar rate. ETH carries full price risk. If you want predictable numbers, a stablecoin on a low-fee network is the simpler choice.

What is a tether casino?

It is a casino that accepts USDT, the Tether stablecoin. Cashiers usually list it on several networks, such as Ethereum (ERC-20) and Tron (TRC-20), and each one is a separate row with its own address and minimum. Send on exactly the network you selected.

Which network should I use to send USDT to a casino?

Use a network that both your exchange or wallet and the casino cashier support, ideally a low-fee one. Ethereum's main network is widely accepted but can be expensive at busy times; Tron, layer 2 networks and others are usually cheaper. Always match the network name on both sides.

Why do I need ETH to send USDT?

On Ethereum, every transaction pays gas in ETH, including token transfers. If your wallet holds USDT but no ETH, the USDT cannot move on that network. Other networks charge their fee in their own coin, such as TRX on Tron.

How long does an Ethereum casino deposit take?

With a normal fee, an Ethereum transaction usually confirms within minutes, and the casino credits it once it has the number of confirmations its cashier states. Low fees at busy times, or an earlier pending transaction from the same wallet, can slow it down.

What happens if I send USDT on the wrong network?

If the casino does not support that network, the deposit will not appear in your balance. Because Ethereum, layer 2 networks and BNB Smart Chain share the same address format, some casinos can recover such coins at their discretion; others cannot. Contact support with the transaction hash, and always send a test first.

Can I still buy USDT in Ireland under MiCA?

ESMA told providers to stop offering stablecoins that do not comply with MiCA by the end of the first quarter of 2025, without naming tokens. Ask your MiCA-authorised exchange which stablecoins it sells to EU customers and on which networks.

Do I pay tax on Ethereum casino winnings in Ireland?

Revenue does not charge CGT on betting gains. Gains on the coins themselves are different: disposals of crypto-assets are within CGT, at 31% for most disposals from 7 October 2026, after the €1,270 annual exemption. Keep records and ask a tax adviser about your own case.

Are Ethereum casinos legal in Ireland?

No online casino holds a GRAI licence yet, because gaming licence applications open during 2027 and 2028, so every Ethereum casino open to Irish players is an offshore operator. Buying the coins is regulated separately: crypto providers in Ireland need CASP authorisation under MiCA.

Does 22BET accept Ethereum and USDT?

Its cashier includes crypto among many payment methods, but the coins and networks on offer can differ by country and change over time. Open the 22BET cashier after you register, check the rows for ETH and USDT and their minimums, and send a small test first. The welcome offer is +250% on your deposit.
